HABBA stresses its privacy and security standards to guard against identity theft and provide security for your personal information. We regularly revaluate our privacy and security policies and adapt them as necessary to deal with new challenges.
Eligibility to use the HABBA platform
Usage of personal information
HABBA may use personal information to provide the services requested by the users. HABBA commits not to share the user’s personal information with anyone, for any reason, at any time. HABBA uses and discloses the user’s personal information only for the following purposes:
- To analyse site usage and improve its service;
- To deliver to the user any administrative notices, notifications regarding user’s transactions on the platform;
- To fulfil the user’s requests for certain services;
- For market research, project planning, troubleshooting problems, detecting and protecting against error, fraud or other criminal activity;
- Need based information shared with third-party contractors that provide services to HABBA and are bound by these same privacy restrictions;
- As otherwise set forth in this Privacy and Security Policy.
In the event that the user accesses the Service as brought to the user by one of HABBA’s co-branded partners, through a co-branded URL, the user’s email address used for registration on the Service may be provided to that co-branded partner.
HABBA shall limit the collection and use of personal information
Certain areas and features of www.habba.org are available to the user without registration or the need to provide to HABBA any information. However, other features of the Site or the Service may require registration, which involves provision to HABBA of an email address, a password, user’s address and to participate on HABBA forum boards, a username (collectively the 'Registration Information'). From time to time HABBA may request other personal information to provide the user with other benefits of the Service. In all such instances, the user will be given the opportunity to provide or to decline to provide that information, and it will be used only for the stated purpose. HABBA may make anonymous or aggregate personal information and disclose such data only in a non-personally identifiable manner to
- Advertisers and other third parties for their marketing and promotional purposes, such as the number of users and how many users clicked on a particular HABBA offer;
- Organizations approved by HABBA that conduct research on philanthropy and social contribution. Such information does not identify users individually.
Access to the user’s Registration Information, Account Credentials, Account Information and any other personal information that the user provides is strictly restricted and used in accordance with specific internal procedures and safeguards governing access control, in order to operate, develop or improve the Service. The HABBA team members handling user data are individuals that have been selected in accordance with HABBA’s security policies and practices, and are bound by non-disclosure agreements. They may be subject to disciplinary action, including termination and criminal prosecution, if they fail to meet these obligations. HABBA may also use third party vendors or service providers to help HABBA provide the Service to the user, such as sending e-mail messages on HABBA’s behalf or hosting and operating a particular feature or functionality of the Service. HABBA contracts with these third parties outlining the appropriate use and handling of user’s information and prohibits them from using any of the user’s personal information for purposes unrelated to the product or service they're providing. HABBA requires such third parties to maintain the confidentiality of the information HABBA provides to them.
Changes to user’s Registration Information
If the user’s Registration Information changes during the user’s usage of HABBA, the user may update it any time via the Service.
Online session information and use is only used to improve user’s experience
When users visit www.habba.org, HABBA may collect technical and navigational information, such as computer browser type, Internet protocol address, pages visited, and average time spent on HABBA’s Site. This information may be used, for example, to alert software compatibility issues, or it may be analysed to improve the HABBA Web design and functionality.
"Cookies" are alphanumeric identifiers in the form of text files that are inserted and stored by the user’s Web browser on the user’s computer's hard drive. HABBA stores cookies on the user’s hard drive via your web browser. These cookies are used so that the system can identify the user’s session, and must be enabled for the system to function correctly.
HABBA encodes cookies so that only HABBA can interpret the information stored in them.
Web beacons are images embedded in a Web page or email for the purpose of measuring and analysing site usage and activity. HABBA, or third party service providers acting on HABBA’s behalf, may use Web beacons to help HABBA analyse Site usage and improve the Service.
Blogs and other Forums
If the user uses a bulletin board, blog or chat room on HABBA’s site, the user should be aware that any information the user submits there can be read, collected or used by other users and could be used to send the user unsolicited messages. HABBA will not be held responsible for the personal information the user chooses to submit in these fora. These fora may be hosted by HABBA or by one of HABBA’s third party service providers on HABBA's behalf.
Contests, Giveaways and Surveys
From time to time, HABBA may offer the user an opportunity to participate in contests, giveaways and other promotions. Any information submitted in connection with such activities will be treated in accordance with this Privacy and Security Policy, except as specifically set forth in the rules for those contests, giveaways or promotions. From time to time, HABBA may also ask the user to participate in surveys designed to help HABBA improve the Site. Any personal information provided to HABBA in connection with any survey will be used only in relation to that survey and as set forth in this Policy.
Disclosure of user’s information to protect HABBA rights or if required by law
Notwithstanding the foregoing, HABBA reserves the right (and the user authorises HABBA) to share or disclose the user’s personal information when HABBA determines, at its sole discretion, that the disclosure of such information is necessary or appropriate:
- To prevent prohibited or illegal activities; or
- When required by any applicable law, rule, regulation, subpoena or other legal process in India.
User’s data may be transferred upon change of control but only in accordance with this Policy
Personal information may be transferred to a third party as a result of a sale, acquisition, merger, reorganization or other change of control. If HABBA sells, merges or transfers any part of HABBA’s business, part of the sale may include user’s personal information. If so, the user will be asked if the user would like to stop receiving promotional information following any change of control.
Users can transport or delete user’s data
User’s data is theirs. The User can remove it anytime the user wants to. When the user requests HABBA to delete a user’s account for the Service, the user’s data will be permanently expunged from HABBA’s primary production servers and further access to the user’s account will not be possible. HABBA will also promptly disconnect any connection HABBA had established to the user’s Account Information and delete all account credentials. However, portions of the user’s data, consisting of aggregated data derived from the user’s Account Information, may remain on HABBA’s production servers indefinitely. User’s data may also remain on a backup server or media. HABBA keeps these backups to ensure HABBA’s continued ability to provide the Service to users in the event of a malfunction or damage to HABBA’s primary production servers. HABBA also reserves the right to use any aggregated or anonymous data derived from or incorporating the user’s personal information.
Email communications from HABBA
HABBA provides registered users with periodic summaries of their transactions. HABBA also allows users to subscribe to email newsletters and, from time to time, may send users emails promoting HABBA. Subscribers of www.habba.org can opt-out of receiving HABBA promotional emails and terminate their newsletter subscriptions but they will still receive information regarding completed transactions, monthly contribution reminders that they have subscribed to and any urgent updates based on technical changes or exigent circumstances (natural disasters, policy changes etc.).
Communications from HABBA on the mobile phone
Users are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their credentials
