Care and Description

Description

One of the earliest indigenous folk art form Pattachitra paintings are mediums of storytelling, elaborating on the Hindu mythology. In this painting one can see Lord Ganesha painted in vivid vibrant tones with brilliant use of lines and patterns. The bright colours and the framing adds to the elegant charm of the treasured Pattachitra, done by artists in Raghurajpur, Odisha. The painting is done on patti paper- consisting of a paste of natural pesticides like lime stone powder, tamarind paste etc to make the painting resistant and enduring.
