Care and Description

Description

One of the earliest indigenous folk art form Pattachitra. The paintings are mediums of storytelling, elaborating on the Hindu mythology. This painting celebrates the ethereal Radha Krishna romance.Using a mix of colours, on a pastel pink background, the painting is enhanced with the minute detailings. All colours used are natural vegetable dyes made by artists in Raghurajpur, Odisha. The material on which the painting is done is called Patti paper, it has cotton attached using a natural pesticide made of tamarind, lime and chalk.
