Description
One of the earliest indigenous folk art form Pattachitra. The paintings are mediums of storytelling, elaborating on the Hindu mythology. This painting in a vibrant colourful way depicts the first avatar of Hindu God Vishnu- Matsya (fish). The bright colours and the framing adds to the elegant charm of the treasured Pattachitra, done by artists in Raghurajpur, Odisha. The material on which the painting is done is called Patti paper, it has cotton attached using a natural pesticide made of tamarind, lime etc.
