Meet the community partner

Khatri A. Halim Usman

After the disastrous earthquake that struck Kutch in 2001, Mr. Halim's family along with many other families was devastated. Mr. Halim's only source of income was his father's workshop, which was also destroyed. After a year of recovery and two years of working as unskilled labour, Mr. Halim decided to move to Ajrakhpur and start his own venture. He started his own Ajrakh block printing workshop and now watches it grow bigger year after year. With the support of the Gujarat government and various organisations, the entire community of that region is now able to scale up their business. Habba aspires to see them being financially independent. Habba also helps them keep up with the trending market by having constant design interventions and encourages them to experiment and explore new possibilities with respect to design.
